Saginaw County Country Artist Walt Evans works with #1 rated most violent city in America-Saginaw-to help raise awareness and funds for Domestic Violence for community

Saginaw Michigan born country artist Walt Evans is working together with his community, one that unfortunately is ranked once again since 2003 number 1 in violent crime.  “It takes a community working together to say this is not acceptable no more.  It is wrong on all levels and will no longer be tolerated.”  Walt Evans agrees with community leaders that awareness needs to start at an early age, “Children mimic what they see, they then grow up thinking wrong is normal behavior; it is now time to stop that pattern.  The whole community needs to be aware of the signs of an abuser and also just as important the signs of a victim, before it is too late.  Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles especially need to get to know their children – they need to pay attention to the signs that something isn’t normal in their life and really listen to them.  Children need to be seen, heard and believed.“

Walt is currently working with Mary Sue Barry of the Underground Railroad and all of the community businesses to raise awareness during February Teen Awareness Month for Domestic Violence.  He is generously giving back once again to a community in need especially one that is so dear to his heart.  “I was raised here on a farm in Reese Michigan where everybody knew their neighbors; I raised my kids not far from home in the countryside of Saginaw County, actually not far from then the home of TV5.  I worked at Saginaw Steering Gear and raised my 2 children myself after their mother passed away at a young age.  I have always made myself available to helping numerous functions to raise funds for those in need, people need to help take care of each other, it is wrong not to care.  It is not acceptable for your hometown to be ranked number 1 in violent crime.  It is not right that 1 in every 4 women and 1 in every 14 men will experience domestic violence in their lifetimes.  Wrong that every 2.5 minutes, someone in the US is sexually assaulted and of those more than half of all rapes of women 54% occur before the age of 18.    Boys who witnessed domestic violence are twice as likely to abuse their own partners and children when they become adults.    Again they mimic what they see.  Nothing good comes out of being a bully at a young age.  Real tough guys protect people they don’t hurt them.”

March 7th there will be (2) - Walt Evans Classic Country Music Review shows featuring the classics from Conway Twitty, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, George Jones and Walt Evans will be performing his  European charting #1 song Not on Earth off of his Country Dreams Album, plus his very moving tribute to our soldiers all around the world, at the Bay Valley Resort.  The opening act will be announced soon.  There will be a limited amount of $10.00 tickets sold for each show, with all ticket money and $5.00 from each album sold donated to the Saginaw County Underground Railroad.  This will be a wrap up of all the fundraising efforts from now until that point in which Walt has agreed to work with the schools during teen awareness month in February to donate monies from his new album sales during that time, a portion goes to the participating schools and a portion to the Saginaw Underground Railroad.  “We all hope to raise a tremendous amount of awareness to this problem and much needed funds for the Underground Railroad.  Local business participation is very crucial to the success of this event for the community, and as usual the business owners are being very supportive to this community event.  I would like to thank everyone once again.  It is heartwarming to see a community pulling together.”  Places to purchase your tickets and show times will be announced soon.
